Catrin Johnsson was born in Sweden and trained at the Sköndal Institute, Royal University College of Music (Stockholm), and the Royal Academy of Music with Anne Howells. She now studies with Jacqueline Bremar and David Harper

Awards include the Christina Nilsson Award, Elena Gerhardt Lieder Prize, Flora Nielsen Prize, Michael Head Prize, Katie Thomas Prize, and the Minnie Hauk Prize

Her operatic roles include title role Carmen (Opera Project), Hansel (Cork Opera House), Dimitra Fedora (Opera Holland Park), Adelberto Ottone and Idelberto Lotario (London Handel Festival), Dorabella Cosi fan tutte (Diva Opera and CoOpera Ireland), Nicklausse Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Diva Opera), Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro (ETO and Diva Opera), Prince The Happy Prince (Jubilee Opera, Aldeburgh), Zerlina Don Giovanni (Opera East Productions), Third Lady The Magic Flute (ETO), and Euridice Crossing the Styx (Children’s Opera, ETO). She has also sung Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream, Siebel Faust, Annio La Clemenza di Tito and Dido Dido and Aeneas.

Catrin Johnsson is active on the concert platform where performances include L'Allegro, il Penserioso ed il Moderato (St George's Hanover Square), Grieg Haugtussa (St John's, Smith Square, with Malcolm Martineau), Messiah (Watford Philharmonic Society), Kindertotenlieder (Purcell Room), Mozart Requiem (London Soloists' Chamber Orchestra), Mozart Mass in C minor (St John's, Smith Square), Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen (Queen Elizabeth Hall). She has also taken part in concert tours of Sweden and New Zealand with the pianist Rachel Fuller.

She has recorded a CD In Recital with pianist Rachel Fuller, and taken part in a televised master class for the BBC with David Pountney, as well as radio broadcasts in Sweden and New Zealand.

Future includes the covers of Hermia and Stéphano (Opera North), Orlofsky (Opera Project) and recitals at the Padiès Festival in France.
